1. Evaluating the Condition of Car

Evaluating the condition of your vehicle will lead you towards how it should be cleaned. A new car or one that already has a good coat of wax on it may only need a wash and wax to maintain it, but a car with an average to neglected exterior may need to be clean and polished as well. Some time it might need more than just a Polish.

2. Washing Your Car

Washing your car will remove overall contaminants such as mud, dust, dirt, tree & bird dropping, from the exterior of your vehicle. Always use a good quality Car washing shampoo like 3M Car ShampooMeguiar's NXT Generation Car Wash Formula 1 Carnauba Wash and Wax Shampoo.
Never use a detergent or dish cleaner, which can damage the paint and strip away wax.  Detergent has Sulfur, which remains on car paint when you wash using detergents, and Sulfur burns when exposed to sun, this will also lead to itching & paint Burn of the Clear Coat.  Best Practice to wash a car is Top Down. Rinse your car first to remove larger pieces of dirt which can scratch your car when washing, and use clean mitts and drying cloths like Formula 1 Super MittGlove-Wash-MittMeguiar's Microfiber Wash Mitt. Dry the car surface with Water Magnet Drying TowelMeguiar's Microfiber Water Magnet Drying TowelMicrofiber-Cloth-300-GSM-Grey

After washing your car, you can easily see scratches, swirls, and oxidation in your paint and feel for bonded contaminants such as overspray or tree sap that washing doesn't remove. Just run your hand over a washed vehicle, and if you can feel little bumps, then you need to go a step further with cleaning your car.
clay bar like Insta Finish Clay Bar or Auto Reflection Clay Bar can be used to remove stubborn bonded contaminants. It will remove everything off the surface of your vehicle including wax and will restore smoothness to the paint. Hold Clay on palm of one hand and run it across the surface of your car.

4.  Spot Corrections

Spot corrections are the areas to work which are still left on the surface after washing and Surface Preparation. These are hard stubborn stains, grease. Predominantly theses are Tar marks, Glue, Label residue in  specific. Identify these spots and clean them with Tar and Glue remover like Formula 1 Bug and Tar RemoverInsta Finish Glue Lable Remover, or Insta Finish DegreaserTar Marks & Imperfection left over are hardly visible on Dark colour, you will need to feel it with your Palm , roll your palm over the surface to spot them.

5.  Paint Correction -

To remove scratches and etching that are below the surface, you'll need to use a compound. Selection of compound is very important based on the damage of your Paint. Refer our Compound guide mentioned below. They can be applied using  hand applicator pads like  Applicator Sponge, Meguiar's Foam Applicator Pad, Microfiber Applicator Or Microfiber Sponge Applicator or by using a dual-action polisher, and wipe off soon after applying.
A compounded paint May need to be worked into final step for finish and can sometimes require a 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th application. Some scratches are too deep and have No Paint left on the surface cannot be worked and only a paint touch-up will repair them

6. Polishing for Extra Gloss

This step in some case over Laps with Step 5 based on Age of Car or usage. This step is as important as Step 5 as it gives a deciding finish to the paint.  In most Scenarios it will so happen that Step 5 can be avoided by using Medium to Fine aggressive Polish which will take care of swirl marks, paint blemish, Minor imperfection and Hologram. We have Put a Chart that will help you decide on Making the right choice.
Polish can be applied by hand applicator pads like  Applicator Sponge, Meguiar's Foam Applicator Pad, Microfiber Applicator Or Microfiber Sponge Applicator or with a dual-action polisher

7. Wax to Protect

Waxing is like sunscreen to your car. It adds a protective layer & Protects the surface from UV rays to prevent fading and anything that may land on the paint. It preserves your high gloss finish and is available in a carnauba or polymer form. Both types of wax perform the same, but a polymer wax won't haze as Carnauba &  it dries and can be wiped off soon after applying.  As said by some, Polymer protection is easy to apply and it lasts more than Carnauba. Some carnauba gives deep Gloss to wet Look finish and Polymer gives fluidic or synthetic finish based on Colors.
