Car Care and Maintenance Tips from the Experts
Care and maintenance of your car is very much essential to retain its overall functionality and keep it moving on the roads. However, not all the car owners have enough idea about what exactly to do to keep their vehicles in good condition and retain its high value. Hence, with the help of this blog post, our experts have mentioned basic car care and maintenance tips to keep the car operating in its peak condition.
Maintenance of Tyre and Wheels
Clean the Brake Dust on a Regular Basis
Brake dust incorporates every possible nasty stuff. Hence, if you keep it in the same condition for a long time, you will find the combination of heat, moisture and road grime from the car brakes, as causing damage to the car wheels & drop the efficiency of braking experience. It also reduces the life of Brake pads. Brake dust usually clings to car wheels by the environment exposure as a combination of heat, Moisture, usage & Lubricants applied. Thus, a clean cold water and a damp sponge are the best ways to overcome the problem.
Check the Tyre Pressures
You should check the vehicle tyre pressures regularly or at least for one time in a week if you are using regular Air & approximately once in 3 weeks if you are using Nitron Air. Reason behind this is that bad pressures of car tyres may cause a negative influence to Riding comfort, fuel economy and vehicle handling procedure. The Pressure balance of all four tyres is equally important to have a Rolling experience of Tyre versus the power generated by engine, if the tyre pressure is balanced there will be no drag Experience. Drag causes one wheel to take more load than other causing loss of energy the engine produces which will lead to low riding experience, low grip, low fuel economy and Most importantly More wear of Tyres , reducing tyre life. A Proper Tyre Pressure with a perfectly balanced & Aligned wheel will definitely add More miles to your Tyre and savings on long term.
Maintenance of Car Engines
Check the Condition of Drive Belts
If you look at the front portion of your car engine, you will find a series consisting of rubber drive belts, which loop across different pulleys and are able to drive almost everything whether it is an AC compressor or an alternator. However, rubber usually perishes after you go certain miles on the road. Hence, it is better to check both accessory drive and timing belt after your vehicle covers a distance of 25,000 miles on the road, while you should replace it after the vehicle completes 50,000 miles.
But as you go, you can definitely maintain the rubber, as the rubber Belt is in engine section which produces high heat, with a combination of Moisture and its Function leads to more tensile & Fatigue stress on Belts it’s advisable to clean it regularly with Belt cleaners and maintain its flexibility with Belt Lubricants and Belt Dressers.
Check the Exact Level of Your Car Engine Oil
If the level of your car engine oil reaches too much high or too much low level, it creates trouble to the engine. Hence, to check the level of oil, you should park your vehicle on a labeled ground and wait for cooling down of the car engine. Advisable to check the oil level of car when you park it overnight, this helps oil to settle down to base level to know the exact oil level when you check.
Now, Pull the dipstick which is in engine compartment using Loop Hook which is provided for easy pulling and pull it outward, wipe it clean and again push it back to its place. You have to perform this activity until you find the top portion of the dipstick locates properly within the dip tube or Tank. You should wait for some moment and later on, pull it for one more time. The Dip stick has marking of Min & Max or some cars have dipstick with horizontal lines, the oil level must be between of any of these markings. Check the engine oil level of your car and if it remains in between low and high marks, engine oil remains in good condition.
If your car is old then some time the consumption of oil is more than a new Machine, so we advise to Top up oil if the oil is consumed more with your car being used below 5000 kms, from Previous oil change date. If the last oil Change date is More than 6-8 Months and you have run your car for 10,000 kms then go with oil Change.
Maintenance of Car Batteries
A majority of modern cars/vehicles operates on 12volts of negative based ground electrical system. If the terminals of your vehicle do not remain in clean condition, it will create difficulties in passing of the current across the vehicles electrical system causing energy loss and overheating of Battery which reduces Battery Life .
Hence, in order to avoid this, you should remove terminal caps of the battery, clean contact posts by using a wire brush and later on attach them again to the battery. We recommend using Battery Terminal Coating to avoid Sulphur formation on Battery. Only you should keep in mind, while removal of battery terminals, you should disconnect the negative side first and then goes to the positive one and in case of attachment, just do the opposite i.e. start connection by connecting the positive one.
Battery works on charging and Battery charges when you run your car, there is a “RELAY” which charges your car battery when you run, RELAY takes some of the generated energy from Engine to charge the battery. If you Notice there is a Dip in the energy of your Battery despite you use your car regularly then get it diagnosed. You can also check what is the energy your Car battery has using Voltmeter.
Precaution – Modern days Battery does not need distill water Top-Up so if anyone recommends for Distill water Top-Up then be careful.
